The term "raster" refers to a method of displaying images on a video monitor whereby each horizontal line is scanned. Each line is scanned, starting at the top of the display and continuing to the bottom of the screen. Raster displays can be interlaced (alternating lines) or non-interlaced (each line scanned in sequence).
